There are a multitude of consequences following stroke or cerebro-vascular accident. Manifestations of stroke will differ among individuals and is dependent on the type, location, severity and the number of times an individual may have had episodes of stroke. Stroke results in the loss of normal function of part of the body that leads to disability. Often times we come across other manifestations such as difficulty in speech and swallowing and cognitive impairments.

The best chances of recovery from stroke are between three to six months. Within this crucial time, the individual must be accorded the opportunity to access quality post-stroke rehabilitation in order to maximise chances of physical recovery and return to near normal function.
